“Government Jobs Mean Life Is Set”
Situation
Karthik studied mechanical engineering in a small college near Salem. Not a topper, not weak. After college, campus placement gave him a factory job. Family said no. Everyone said try government exams first. One attempt became two, then three. Coaching centres, early mornings, newspapers, test series. Every year, cut-off went up. Relatives asked only one question—“clear hua kya?” The factory offer quietly expired.
Thought Bubble
Everyone says once government job comes, life becomes calm. But I feel tired even before life has started.
Having Said That…
After another failed attempt, he joined a factory through a reference. Work is physical. Growth slow. Friends who cleared exams are called “settled” in family gatherings. Karthik listens, sometimes envies. But he also knows if he had waited longer, he would have lost himself in preparation. |
