Situation
Anjana had an MS admit from the US. Everyone knew. Relatives started calling her “foreign maalu.” Two months before departure, her father’s health collapsed. Conversations changed tone. Friends said, “Things will manage.” Mother said, “We will see.” No one said “don’t go,” but the silence became thick. Anjana deferred once. Then cancelled.
