Having Said That...
Be Your Own Career Counsellor
“I Didn’t Know I Was Already Selling”
Situation
Rohit was clear about one thing — he did not want to go into sales. He was doing BBA, average student, nothing outstanding. During college fest, he ended up helping a senior arrange sponsorships. He had to call local shop owners, explain event, convince them to give small amounts. Some said no, some delayed, some asked strange questions. Somehow, he managed to get 4–5 sponsors.
Thought Bubble
I don’t like sales… but then what exactly was I doing all these days? Just asking for help… or convincing someone who didn’t know me at all?
Having Said That…
Later when someone explained this to him, it hit him — this is exactly what sales looks like. Not big targets, not pressure… just conversations, rejections, small wins. He still doesn’t call himself a “sales person”. But he is no longer avoiding such roles blindly. Now he knows — he may not like the label, but he doesn’t dislike the work. |
