Still, something pulls me toward this. Not because I love stress, but because this project will be seen. I imagine myself handling it well, being noticed, being trusted with something bigger. I also imagine failing — and strangely, that doesn’t scare me as much as being invisible.

I reply saying I’m interested. I don’t think about promotion or appraisal anymore. I just feel awake.
