Still, something inside me reacts. Turning around a broken assignment won’t be glamorous. It may even fail publicly. But leaving it untouched feels like I am protecting comfort instead of testing capability. I realize I don’t want my later years to be about safe choices alone.

I say I’ll take it up. The room moves on. Inside, I feel steady, not heroic.
