"No Added Sugar"... Is That the Whole Story?
Situation; Seema and Pooja are neighbors in Jaipur. Every Sunday evening, they visit a nearby supermarket together to buy groceries for the week. While walking through the biscuit and health food section, Pooja picks up a packet of cookies. The front of the pack boldly says, "No Added Sugar." Pooja smiles. "This looks like a healthier option. I'll take this."
Seema quietly turns the packet around and starts reading the ingredient list. After a few seconds she says, "The front of the pack says one thing. But before buying it, shouldn't we also understand what is written on the back?"
Pooja laughs. "Honestly... I never read all that. It is too confusing." Let us explore this time.

Thought 1; "Most shoppers don't have time to read detailed labels. If the front of the pack communicates the main benefit clearly, that should be enough."
Thought 2; "Perhaps consumers are looking simple explanations that help them understand what those claims actually mean before deciding whether the product suits them." Can it be done now.

Reflection; What thinking comes closest to your own? If you were responsible for marketing this product, what would you do to help consumers make a more informed buying decision?
Mentor's Reflection; Understanding builds confidence. Helping people interpret information is often more valuable than simply giving them more information.
