Module 9.13 - A Small Food Cart... But A Big Dream

A Small Food Cart... But A Big Dream

Situation; Dalchand, 32, has worked for more than ten years under a highly accomplished food industry professional learning cooking, hygiene, quality control, customer handling and daily kitchen operations.

Confident about his skills, and with blessing from his boss, he resigns from his job and starts a small food cart outside a well-known hospital. The response during the first few weeks is encouraging. Doctors, attendants and visitors appreciate the taste and cleanliness of his food.

One evening, while closing the cart, Dalchand says to his younger brother, who is studying in college, "I know how to cook. I know how to run this cart. But I don't know how this can ever become a real business."

His brother smiles. "Bhaiya... I've seen people in college using ChatGPT for everything. Your old boss also used it all the time. Why don't we ask it?" The next morning, both brothers sit together with a mobile phone and begin discussing what they should ask.

 ________________________________________

Idea 1; "Let's ask ChatGPT how to increase sales of our food cart. Maybe it will suggest better menu items, lower prices, social media promotion or home delivery."

Idea 2; "Instead of asking how to increase today's sales, let's ask how businesses like ours usually grow over five or ten years. We should understand what successful food entrepreneurs did after starting with one cart."

Reflection; What thinking comes closest to your own? If you were sitting with Dalchand, what would be the very first question you would ask before opening ChatGPT?

Mentor's Reflection; Artificial Intelligence gives better answers when we ask better questions. Sometimes the biggest opportunity is not finding a better solution. It is asking a bigger question.
