For thousands of years, human beings lived in just one world.

Everything happened there.

Friendships.

Entertainment.

Arguments.

Dreams.

Opportunities.

Success.

Failure.

Everything.

Then, quite quietly, something extraordinary happened.

Technology created another world.

Not on another planet.

Not in another country.

Right here, inside our pockets.

Today, most of us wake up in the physical world but, within a few minutes, also enter the virtual world.

We communicate there.

We laugh there.

We work there.

We buy things there.

We make friends there.

We learn there.

Sometimes we even discover opportunities there that our own neighborhood could never have offered us.

For Gen G, this is completely normal. Many of you do not feel that you are living in two different worlds. You simply feel that you are living one life, using two different spaces.

Perhaps that is why the old question—

"Which world is more real?"

may no longer be the right question.

Both worlds are real because both influence your life.

Both create opportunities.

Both create challenges.

Both shape your thinking.

Both deserve to be understood.

As older generations, we sometimes feel tempted to compare these two worlds.

To decide which one is better.

Which one is safer.

Which one is healthier.

The truth is, we may not yet know.

Humanity is still learning.

The jury is still out. Rather than becoming judges, let us become observers. Let us become learners. After all, every generation inherits a different world.

Your grandparents inherited electricity.

Your parents inherited computers and mobile phones.

Gen G has inherited something even bigger - the opportunity to live comfortably in both the physical and the virtual worlds.

That is not a problem to be solved.

It is a new reality to be understood.

Now as you begin your journey from being a Gen G Student to becoming a Gen G Professional, you will discover that both worlds will continue to travel with you.

Neither disappears after graduation.

Neither replaces the other.

The real challenge is not choosing one over the other.

The real challenge is understanding how both worlds will play out in your life when you learn, grow, create value and build a meaningful professional life.

That is exactly the journey we begin in this exploration…
